Play what you want to play!

Welcome to UkuleleMMA!

A multiple modality approach to playing the ukulele is nothing new. If you have ever watched the pros carefully, you have probably noticed that they don't necessarily stick to one single technique when playing a song. What does this mean?  Well, you might see a player strumming the strings with an index finger. Then again, you might see a thumb dropping down. Maybe you notice some fingerpicking sprinkled in there.  All of these techniques (and others) are often combined in a single composition! The player appears to be using whatever technique is necessary in a given moment to achieve a specific effect. How do they do this? Are certain people born to be ukulele savants? Has a gift been bestowed upon them from a mystical ukulele dreamland?

Not so.

They worked hard for their accomplishments. They had a goal, they had specific things in mind that they wanted to be able to do; and then they studied and practiced. They watched others-- and not just other ukulele players. I believe George Foreman was the first person to coin this phrase: "Plan your work, then work your plan."

Whether your goal is to play like the pros, or to simply push your ukulele boundaries, you will benefit from UkuleleMMA. Even if you are just curious about certain techniques and want to experiment with new ideas, you will find inspiration here.
